To publish a book
Submit your proposal by sending an email with the following attachments:
- proposal form
- text in a draft form (index and at least two chapters).
Fill out all sections of the proposal form, describing the topic and characteristics of the publication clearly in order to facilitate the Scientific Advisory Board’s evaluation.
The following elements are required for the proposal form:
- Brief description of the work
- Author(s) biography (1000 characters max.)
- Draft table of contents
- Scientific designation for the work
- Note the sponsoring entity for any conference-generated work
- Number of illustrations (if any)
- Delivery date for the material
- Language in which the text was written
- Educational objectives or intended audience
- Any issues relating to completing or editing the work
ASSESSING THE PROPOSALS
Proposals are initially vetted by the MilanoUP Editorial Board to make sure they are consistent with the publications’ fields of study. The Editorial Board fills out an assessment form, signed by the Board President, and assigns an editor to launch the peer-review process.
To start a journal

The UNIMI Journal platform uses the OJS application. After a brief training, an editor will be able to manage:
- writer-submitted paper and article proposals
- peer-review processes
- pubblication in different formats (PDF, HTML, ecc.)
The training programme likewise includes guidance on adhering to international standards for scientific journals, and listings in general and discipline-specific directories.
Office staff will handle the initial creation of the journal in OJS, but the editorial staff configures the journal, and uploads content.
An ISSN (which costs under Euro 50) is required for the publication of the first volume.
The platform can accommodate established journals with content-migration to be coordinated on a case-by-case basis.
To start a series
To create a publication series, write to MilanoUP and tell us about your project.
Series are hosted on the UNIMI Book platform, which uses OMP. Following a brief training on the OMP app, the series’ editors can manage their publications independently.

- publishing individual chapters for each book
- publishing chapters and volumes in different formats (PDF, HTML, etc.)
